Parker Dam.
Parker Dam spans the Colorado River between California and Arizona , 155 miles downstream from Hoover Dam. At 320 feet below the riverbed, Parker Dam is the deepest dam in the world. Completed in 1938, Parker Dam brings water and power benefits to residents of the lower Colorado River Basin and smoothes the Colorado 's flow for downstream water users. Parker Dam's primary purpose is to provide reservoir storage for water to be pumped into the Colorado River and Central Arizona Project Aqueducts. Two public campgrounds are located on the Parker Strip along the Colorado River .
